Mechanic – Automotive & Small Engine

Position Type: Full-time; Reduced Winter Hours (32 hours/week)
Reports to: Shop Foreman

Purpose: The purpose of the Mechanic – Automotive & Small Engine position is to work effectively and in coordination with the Shop Foreman to troubleshoot, service and repair company vehicle fleet and company small engine equipment. The Mechanic will work to keep all crews functioning through both Summer and Winter seasons.

Duties and Responsibilities –
Shop Management:

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on vehicles and small engine equipment including but not limited to trimmers, lawn mowers, blowers, etc.
• Ensure maintenance of vehicle fleet and small engine equipment is completed within assigned time frames
• Ensure all vehicle Safeties are completed on an annual basis within assigned time frames
• Open, assemble and test new equipment
• Check equipment for proper operation and deficiencies before returning to its department for use
• Assist with seasonal equipment change over for summer/winter seasons
• Parts ordering and pickup/delivery
• Record repairs and maintenance in applicable Fleet Maintenance Spreadsheets/Software
• Communicate with management on the status of priority vehicles and small engine equipment
• Offer suggestions and ideas to improve shop processes
• Communicate with operators to pinpoint issues with equipment
• Communicate equipment abuse or neglected maintenance to Management
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment
• Use all provided tools and equipment with care
• Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements:

• Possess a high level of Mechanical knowledge in a wide range of vehicles and small engine equipment; other equipment knowledge (i.e. Heavy Duty) is considered a major asset
• Strong understanding of business workflow and ability to assign tasks based on this knowledge; Ag, Automotive, and Construction/Landscape equipment experience necessary

Administrative Coordinator

Position Type: Full-time; Permanent (min. 32 hours/week)
Reports to: Business Manager

Purpose: The Administrative Coordinator is the first point of contact for all customer interactions while ensuring complete customer satisfaction by creating a friendly and welcoming environment at all times. They will also serve as the main contact and link between customers, internal departments, and external parties, including vendors. They will be responsible for handling all clerical and administrative duties, analyze and improve office processes and policies, and ensure that the office operates smoothly.

Duties and Responsibilities –
Customer Service:

• Act as the primary contact for customers; phones, emails, walk in customers
• Assist customers in basic product recommendations and quotes
• Accept and enter payment from customers
• Produce basic quotes for customers based on services offered by company
• Ensure all customers are directed to appropriate staff, take messages, and nurture customer relationships
• Answering questions and finding information for staff, vendors and clients

Administration:

• Prepare estimators daily schedules and folders
• Manage office supplies inventory and fill orders (lunchroom, office and cleaning)
• Envelope invoices and statements for mail
• Receive and distribute mail and prepare inter-office folder daily
• Maintain filing records and all data entry
• Data entry of Man-Minute sheets (Productivity)
• Proactive suggestions on system improvements
• Assist in contract preparation

Other Administrative Support Tasks:

• Support all office departments with administrative assistance including, but not limited to: scanning, filing, data entry, maintaining electronic files, product/inventory ordering, etc.
• Supporting employees by facilitating interdepartmental communications and interactions between internal and external parties
• Assisting with special projects as needed

Qualification Requirements:

Snow Ranger Crew Member – Snow Shoveller

Position Type: Casual/Part-time, On-Call
Reports to: Frontline Manager/Shovel Crew Operations Manager

Purpose: In the winter months Livingstone Landscaping offers a snow shoveling service to clients. This position will effectively and in a timely fashion, remove all snow from client properties as per their
requirements. Our snow management professionals are to be available at all times, for this on-call weather dependent position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Physically able to perform labour duties
• Basic understanding of snow equipment (shovels, snow throwers, backpack blowers)
• Basic understanding of shovelling techniques (distances from garages, doorways, proper lifting/throwing techniques)
• Communicate effectively; Knowledge of two-way radio operation
• Properly and efficiently fill out all paperwork
• Assist with daily vehicle walk around, checks and fuelling up
• Physically fit to complete all tasks; Fit testing may be required
• Knowledge of overall Safety skills and requirements; i.e. Hazard Assessments, etc.
• Maintains good attendance and displays a strong work ethic
• Able to shovel correctly with little supervision (around edges, doorways, etc.)
• Demonstrates a level of interest in successful job completion

Snow Removal Equipment Operator or Driver

Position Type: Seasonal/Part-time, on-call
Reports to: Snow Operator Route Manager
Purpose: In the winter months Livingstone Landscaping offers a snow removal service to clients. Whenever it snows, we send out crews to clear parking lots and driveways with various different types
of equipment; this role is completely weather-dependent and crews will only get called when it snows 1-inch or more.

This Seasonal/Part-Time position is great for anyone who is laid-off for the winter months, working part time, or working shift work and looking for some extra hours over the winter season.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Answer call-ins on snow days
• Operate equipment safely to clear snow from driveways/parking lots OR haul snow away from sites
• Operate equipment/trucks in residential space with knowledge of surroundings (cars, pedestrians, homes)
• Perform pre-trip inspections and route paperwork
• Demonstrates a level of interest in successful job completion
• Maintains equipment and truck to standards
• Assists with completing pre/post trip successfully per shift
• Maintains good attendance
• Ability to successfully park trucks and equipment (backing into parking spaces)

Heavy Equipment Operator

Summary: We are looking for hardworking, dependable, team oriented individuals to join our heavy excavation team.  The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating a variety of equipment which may include: backhoe excavator, loader, bulldozer, front end loader, skid steer, dump truck, compactor, and roller and material screener.  Operator will use heavy equipment to perform a variety of tasks which may include: fine grading and finishing; landscaping; sloping and banking; backfilling; ditching; excavating; rough grading. Responsibilities:
– Operate heavy equipment to complete variety of job tasks to assist with Excavation & Landscape construction projects
– Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment
– Conduct daily equipment inspections reports on equipment before use
– Report any repair issues or equipment hazards immediately
– Secure special attachments to equipment
– Assist with general labor duties when needed, in order to complete landscape construction projects
– Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard
– Transport materials to and from the jobsite, including loading and unloading
– Using proper tie-down procedures, secure materials to be transported to ensure the safety and security of the load

Class 1 Driver

Summary:  We are looking for hardworking, dependable, team-oriented individuals to join our Alternative Excavation Team.  Heavy Class 1 Driver will be responsible for driving and operating a variety of trucks/equipment to complete a variety of job tasks.  Steel toed shoes or boots are required.  Wage dependent on experience.  This is a full-time seasonal position that may lead into a year-round position for the right candidate.

 Responsibilities:
– Drive and operate a variety of trucks/equipment to complete a variety of job tasks to assist with Excavation and Landscape construction projects
– Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard
– Carry out daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles
– Complete driver’s logbook daily and ensure logs are handed in at the end of each week
– Transport materials to and from the jobsite, including loading and unloading
– Using proper tie-down procedures, secure materials to be transported to ensure the safety and security of the load
