Municipal Engineering Technologist

Burns Maendel Consulting Engineers Ltd. (BMCE) is seeking a Civil Engineering Technologist for immediate employment in Brandon, MB, within the Municipal Department. As a contributing member of our Engineering design team, you will enjoy a fast paced, friendly environment that is collaborative and energized to deliver design solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner. Self-motivation, teamwork, and the ability to work within time constraints are essential to this position.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Working as part of a team within the BMCE Municipal Department
  • Works closely with Project Engineer to determine required drawings for projects
  • Reviews rough sketches, drawings, buildings, specifications, and other engineering data
  • Performs necessary calculations and assists in the design process to complete projects
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil3D daily to complete detailed design drawings for small and large design projects as assigned by the Project Engineer
  • Reviews drawings with Project Engineer and makes the changes to drawings as necessary
  • Prepares design computations and quantity estimates
  • Follows budgets and timelines set by Project Manager
  • Provides technical support to other staff in area of expertise
  • Liaisons with clients, contractors and suppliers as required
  • Research project related items as requested by the Project Engineer and report findings
  • Works with Project Engineer to determine required project specifications
  • Develops and updates specifications as required
  • Assists in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and permits for projects

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Clear written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work effectively on a team
  • Well-developed time management and personal organizational skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Required Education & Experience:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with specialty in Municipal
  • Must have experience or training with Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite software, including AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • 5+ years relevant work experience would be an asset.
  • Current designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or ability to register as such with Certified Technicians & Technologists of Manitoba (CTTAM).

Position Duration: Permanent Full Time

Location: Brandon, MB

Rate of Pay: The successful candidate will be remunerated based on their skills and experience.

The Sales Representative is an important role that requires a friendly, customer service-centered approach to answering inbound inquiries, finding new business opportunities and solidifying existing relationships.

Responsibilities and Duties:

● Professional Growth

    ○ Update Sales Scorecard on a weekly basis

Construction and Training Manager

Position Summary:
The Construction and Training Manager reports to the BEEP Operations Director and is responsible for planning and overseeing construction projects with the goal of providing a positive hands-on construction training opportunity to individuals who have previously experienced barriers to employment. The BNRC requires an individual with experience in construction management, training in carpentry, and strong organizational skills with the ability to work effectively mentoring and training individuals starting out in the construction field.

Qualifications:
– Journeyman Carpenter preferred or equivalent experience and eligibility as a Designated Trainer
– Proven work experience in construction management
– Expert knowledge of all facets of construction process from building products, job costing, blueprints, construction details and relevant codes, rules, regulations and quality standards
– Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
– Certification required (or willingness to obtain): Fall protection, CPR, WHMIS
– Excellent time and project management skills to prioritize workload to meet competing demands

Responsibilities:

– Coordinate building inspections and permit approvals.
– Review jobsite progress daily and plan ahead to prevent problems or resolve any emerging ones.
– Maintain inventory control of tools, equipment, and building materials.
– Manage project vehicles, equipment and tools ensuring required maintenance is completed.
– Ensure all workplace safety and health practices are maintained on jobsites.
– Provide necessary payroll attendance records and staff performance reports to Operations Director.
– Maintain high level of customer service.

Salary:
Dependent upon previous experience and qualifications.                            Terms: 37.5 hours per week
