Construction Industry Wages Act (CIWA) Wage Increases Expected in 2025

Construction Industry Wages Act (CIWA) wage increases expected in 2025

There has been a consensus recommendation provided to the Minister for a 2% increase to CIWA wages every year for the next 3 years. The exception to this recommendation is the Insulator (Heat and Frost) wage which is recommended to have a larger increase, of 7.5% in year 2 (2026).  It is expected that the first increase will be implemented on May 1, 2025. While this is a consensus recommendation from the CIWA working group, it will require Minister approval, so there is a possibility of change of values and implementation dates.

Importantly, there has been a recommendation to add a Trainee 3 level under the Part 2: Tradesperson classification.  Each of the trainee levels will require 1200 hours to advance to the next level. Therefore, to reach a full tradesperson designation under Part 2 would require 3600hrs.

We will keep you informed when there has been a final decision from the Provincial Government
